Susanna Andersson was born in Ostersund , Sweden and is currently on the final year of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama’s Opera Course. Susanna’s musical education began at Sweden ’s Ljungskile College Institute where her potential was recognised and a move to London to pursue her studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama encouraged. In July 2003, Susanna graduated with First Class Honours and as the winner of the School’s prestigious Gold Medal Competition. This year Susanna was also the winner of the coveted Song Prize at the annual Kathleen Ferrier Awards held at London ’s Wigmore Hall.

Susanna has already amassed a wealth of professional experience on both the opera and concert stages as well as in recital. Roles she has so far performed include Atalanta in Handel’s Xerxes, Michaela/ Carmen, The Queen of the Night/ Die Zauberfloete and Lucia in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia as well as Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro which earned her considerable success last season in a new Stephen Langridge production for the Guildhall School conducted by Sian Edwards.

As a concert performer, Susanna has already built up a varied repertoiry of works by Bach, Berlioz, Fauré, Gounod, Handel, Mozart, Pergolesi and Vivaldi and in the 2003/2004 season made an impressive debut with both the Royal Stockholm and Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestras, conducted by Giordano Bellincampi. A return to both orchestras is scheduled for 2004/2005 as well as a début with Malmö Symphony Orchestra in Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium and a guest performance at the 2004 Nobel Prize Ceremony in Stockholm, to be broadcast live on worldwide television.

Susanna’s future operatic performances include Flora in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw in Nuernberg, Thomas Mignon and Poulenc Les mamelles de Tiresias at the Guildhall School and Zerlina/ Don Giovanni for Grange Park Opera.
