Ukrainian pianist Oleg Bezborodko was born in 1973 in Kyiv. Studying first at the Kyiv Glier Music College (class of L. Telnykova), in 1998 he graduated with distinction from the Ukrainian National Academy of Music (class of Prof. I. Pavlova) and continued his postgraduate education there.
During his studies at the Academy Bezborodko won many scholarships from Ukrainian cultural and governmental organisations and in 1997 received the Marusia Yaworska Entrance Scholarship of the Ottawa University . In 1999 he received the Swiss Confederation Scholarship for Foreign Students and attended the Conservatoire de Neuchâtel (class of Sylviane Deferne) where in 2002 he obtained Prix de virtuosité avec distinction. Bezborodko studied under and participated in the Masterclasses of Paul Badura-Skoda, Norma Fisher, Charles Rosen, Joan Havill, Naoum Starkman, Maria Cherni-Stefanska and others.
Bezborodko is an accomplished laureate of international piano competitions: Cleveland Piano Competition 2001, Pilar Bayona Piano Competition 2001(quarterfinals), Missouri Southern Piano Competition 2002 (semifinalist), Horowitz Piano Competition 2001(semifinalist), Lysenko Piano Compettion 1997 (finalist - diploma), Joanna Hodges Piano Competition in Palm Springs (Masterclass 3 - II place), Ludkewitch Music Competition in Toronto 1995 (III prize).
He has played concerts at major venues throughout Ukraine, Switzerland, USA, England, France, Canada and Cuba, performing with orchestras and conductors including: National Orchestra of Ukraine (V. Sirenko, I. Palkin), Kyiv Soloists (B. Kotorovych), Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra (I.Yuzuk), National Academy of Music Orchestra (R. Kofman), Conservatoire Neuchateloise Orchestre (Nicolas Farine), Orchestre Symphonic de Neuchatel (Yan Dobrzelewski) and others.
Since 2002 Bezborodko has taught his own class at the Ukrainian Academy of Music. He combines pedagogical and concert activities with studies of composition with Prof. I. Liashenko and musicological studies. As a composer he is a co-author of the musical "Do Svidania" ("Voices") which was first premiered in 1997 in Nashville. Since 1997 he has been a member of ASCAP. Bezborodko's works have been performed in Ukraine, Switzerland, Germany, USA and published in Germany.
