Eyjolfur Eyjolfsson was born in Reykjavyk in
1979. He graduated from the Flensborg College in Hafnarfjörður in
1998 and an year later he finished his undergraduate diploma as
flautist under professor Gunnar Gunnarsson from the Hafnarfjörður
School of Music. Along his flute-playing he studied singing with
dr. Þórunn Guðmundsdóttir at the same College, finishing his undergraduate
diploma in singing in 2002
Eyjólfur has performed with numerous choirs and ensembles. Such
as The Flensborg College Choir, Hljómeyki, Schola cantorum and the
vocal ensemble Gríma. His first stage experience was in the role
of Spakur in the folkloric musical Kolrassa by dr. Þórunn Guðmundsdóttir
in the Tjarnarbíó Theatre in Reykjavík in 2002. Eyjólfur has given
recitals in Iceland , England and France with acclaimed accompanists
such as Dalton Baldwin, performing Die Schöne Müllerin by Franz
Schubert in the Festival de Musique Islande- Provence . In December
2002 Eyjólfur performed with the Royal Symphony Orchestra in Sevilla
at the Maestranza Theatre singing the tenor solo in Handel’s Messiah.
November 2003 he sang the tenor role in Berlioz’s Messe Solennelle
with the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra at the King’s College Chapel
in Cambridge conducted by Christopher Robinson.
Operatic roles include Iarba in Cavalli's La Didone, Wilhelm Meister
in Mignon by Thomas and Gonzalves in Ralvel's L'heure espagnole.
Eyjólfur has just finished his Master degree in Music Performance
at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and is continuing his
studies there on the Opera Course with Professor Rudolf Piernay.
