HISTORY
The Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine was created in September, 1995, as a base collective of the Lysenko Concert Hall of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine. This Hall is the main concert hall of the capital of Ukraine. It counts above centenary tradition and has prestige in Europe owing to its unique architecture and acoustics. Leonid Tykhonov was the first conductor of the Orchestra. In 1996, the young gifted Conductor Mykola Dyadura headed the orchestra. At the same time, there was nearly complete renewal of the composition of the Orchestra with the best graduating students of higher musical educational institutions of Ukraine. So, promising young musicians came to work along with the experienced ones. The first steps of the Orchestra were supported by prominent musicians, such as Roman Kofman, Krzysztof Penderecki, Mikis Theodorakis, Volodymyr Krajnev. In the year 1999, first in Ukraine, the young collective got a grant of the Government of Japan for acquisition of musical instruments "Yamaha". Today, the Orchestra is acknowledged as one of the best collectives of the East Europe being a noticeable figure in the European musical life.
