Maxim Rysanov is recognised as one of the most outstanding violists of his generation. Educated from Central Special Music School in Moscow and Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London he is a winner of several major international awards, including 2003 Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition, Valentino Bucchi International Viola Competition, Guildhall Gold Medal (GSMD’s most prestigious competition for soloists), Carmel international Chamber Music Competition, Haverhill Symphonia Soloist Competition etc.
Maxim has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, British National TV, BBC World Service, Bulgarian National Radio and TV, Dutch National Radio, Ukrainian and Russian Radio and TV.
Maxim has always given a big part of his creative life to promoting new music. Several works are dedicated to him, those by Dobrinka Tabakova, Elena Langer and Artyom Vassiliev.
Max is invited to play as a soloist and chamber musician in the UK and internationally and has been a guest at many prestigious festivals including Lokenhaus, Cheltenham, Spitalfields, Julian Rachlin and Friends in Dubrovnik, Homecoming and Crescendo in Moscow. He has worked with such artists as Gidon Kremer, Misha Maisky, Mark-Andre Hamelin, Julian Rachlin, Lev Markiz, Janine Jansen and others. UK solo performances also included Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall, St. John’s, Smith Square etc.
Max is also a member of "ASCH" String Trio. With two other members, violinist Roman Mints and cellist Kristina Blaumane, Max appeared in Purcell Room (South Bank), Cheltenham Festival, Aldeburgh Festival and Homecoming Festival in Moscow, Wigmore Hall etc. The group received a Concert Recital Diploma at the GSMD.
Subsequently Maxim has shown his exceptional talent not only in playing the viola but also in conducting. After spending one year as a Fellow Conductor at the Guildhall School of Music he has become a winner of the Young Conductor in Association with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Scheme.
