Vyacheslav Zubkov received his musical education at the Kyiv Secondary Music School and National Music Academy of Ukraine (with Professor B.Arkhymovych), where he is teaching piano now.
Vyacheslav Zubkov is a prize winner of many Ukrainian and international competitions such as the Third Prize Winner at the Ist International Vladimir Krainev Competition for Young Pianists (1992, Kharkiv, Ukraine); the First Prize Winner at Rachmaninov All-Ukrainian Competition (1993, Kherson, Ukraine); in 1997 he became a winner at the 2nd International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz (1997, Kyiv, Ukraine); Diploma at the Ist Governor Competition of Young Pianists (2000, Saratov, Russia); the Second prize in Marsala International Competition (2000, Italy); sixth prize in Paderewsky International Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz (2001, Poland). He was also a Scholar of the program “The New Names of Ukraine”.
In 1998 Vyacheslav Zubkov took master classes of Warren Thomson (Australia) and Volodymyr Krainev (Russia) in 1999. Vyacheslav has a CD recorded in Holland and two CDs and CD-ROM recorded by the International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz.
Vyacheslav Zubkov has cooperated with leading professional orchestras of Ukraine such as the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (conductors V.Sirenko, Keri-Lynn Wilson), Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine (conductor M.Dyadyura), Chernihiv Symphony Orchestra “Philharmonia” (conductor M.Sukach), Symphony Orchestra of Odessa Philharmonic (conductor Hobart Earle); Symphony Orchestra of Donetsk Philharmonic (conductor O.Dolinskiy), Symphony Orchestra of Luhansk Philharmonic (conductor N.Ponomarchuk), Chamber Orchestra “Kyiv Camereta” (conductor V.Matyukhin).
Along with performances of classical piano concertos (Mozart Nos. 23, 27, Tchaikovsky No. 1, Listz No. 1, Prokoffiev No. 1, Shostakovich No. 1) Zubkov became the first in Ukraine performer of Hubert Stuppner’s concerto (April 2001, Column Hall of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine; September 2001 at the International Festival “Kyiv Music Fest”, conductor: Hubert Stupner (Italy). In June 2002 at the International Festival “Kyiv Summer Music Evenings” he performed “Five musical moments for piano with orchestra” of Ivan Karabyts - one of the leader of contemporary Ukrainian music (conductor Kyrylo Karabyts).
Particular page of Zubkov’s performing biography is his performance of Sergiy Bortkiewicz’s works, popular composer in Europe in the first half of the XXth century, Ukrainian by birth. Sergiy Bortkiewicz’s music is coming back now to his mother land thanks to efforts of Ukrainian musicians: pianist Mykola Suk and conductor Mykola Sukach. V.Zubkov became the first performer of Sergiy Bortkiewicz’s concertos Nos. 1,2 and 3 performing them as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra “Philharmonia” under M.Sukach at the festivals: “February Evenings” (Chernihiv, 2001-2006), “Kyiv Music Fest” (Kyiv, 2002), “Kyiv Summer Music Evenings” (2001and 2002), at the Philharmonic Hall in Gomel (Belarus, 2001), also at the concert in memory of Symon Petlyura (2006, Kyiv Opera House).
